  • Launch of two new NobelReplace implants with complete assortment of prefabricated and individualized prosthetic solutions
  • Launch of new small diameter NobelActive 3.0 implant for esthetic zone
  • Launch of multi-platform NobelClinician, the first diagnostic and planning software for Mac OS® X and Windows®
  • New Satellite Symposium explores the benefits of well-executed treatment planning

At the 20th Annual Scientific Congress of the European Association of Osseointegration (EAO) in Athens, Greece, Nobel Biocare is launching significant product and technology innovations in addition to offering a Satellite Symposium, “Preferred Treatment Concepts for Today’s Patient Needs.” This symposium along with the new launches of NobelReplace Conical Connection, NobelReplace Platform Shift, NobelActive 3.0 and the multi-platform NobelClinician Software underscore the company’s commitment to offering innovative solutions with a strong focus on clinical needs and patient benefits.

Two new implants solidify NobelReplace as one system for all clinical and restorative needs
The two new additions to the NobelReplace tapered implant system merge biomechanical and prosthetic advantages and have been developed with clinical and esthetic needs in mind. NobelReplace now offers even more restorative options with the advanced third-generation internal conical connection of the new NobelReplace Conical Connection (CC) and the addition of the platform-shifting feature to the existing internal tri-channel connection to create the new NobelReplace Platform Shift (PS). The NobelReplace implant system combines the well-proven tapered implant body, which facilitates high primary stability, with a strong and tight connection for maximum restorative outcome. The implant system offers a safe and reliable solution for all indications in soft and hard bone alike. It is a versatile and easy-to-use implant system and serves all the needs of both new and experienced restorative and surgical implant users.

The new internal conical connection of NobelReplace CC is designed to preserve marginal bone by minimizing micro-movements and potential micro-leakage. It also withstands higher torque and lateral loading stress and thereby minimizes forces on the retaining screw and prosthetic component. The connection is comfortable to use in surgical as well as prosthetic procedures. The implant has been designed with an integrated platform shift to increase soft-tissue volume for higher esthetics. NobelReplace CC offers great restorative flexibility, as it is suitable for use with all prefabricated abutments and individualized CAD/CAM NobelProcera Abutments. It has the same prosthetic portfolio as NobelActive with restorative options on both implant and abutment level.

The new NobelReplace PS again offers the same proven implant body that delivers excellent initial stability along with the ease-of-use of the internal tri-channel connection and the esthetic benefits of platform shifting. The built-in platform shifting is designed to maximize soft tissue for natural-looking esthetics while the proven internal tri-channel connection provides tactile feedback for accurate and predictable abutment placement. For the NobelReplace CC and NobelReplace PS, the complete prosthetic assortment is available at launch. These new implants are also covered by Nobel Biocare’s Lifetime Warranty as are all Nobel Biocare implants.

New NobelActive 3.0 small diameter implant provides safe placement in areas with limited space
Nobel Biocare now expands the successful NobelActive implant concept with a new 3.0 mm implant for safe implant placement in areas with limited space. The small diameter of the NobelActive 3.0 implant is specially designed for the placement of single-unit maxillary lateral incisors as well as mandibular and central incisors. The implant maintains exceptional strength in a small diameter as it is composed of Nobel Biocare’s strongest type of proprietary commercially pure cold-worked Grade 4 Titanium which offers superior fatigue (160 Ncm) and torque strength (>100 Ncm). NobelActive 3.0 was designed in a compact size with high strength to achieve placement in tight-fitting areas offering clinicians an excellent solution for restorations in the esthetic zone.

The innovative and advanced, next-generation NobelActive implant system offers dental clinicians superior benefits including exceptional primary stability and maximum soft-tissue support for natural-looking esthetics. The NobelActive implant features a unique body design and an advanced third-generation prosthetic connection. The implant allows clinicians to adjust the implant position for optimal restorative orientation and the internal connection provides a tight seal and secure positioning of abutments. This tight conical connection helps prevent inflammatory bacteria from entering the space between the abutment and implant. NobelActive is suitable for all indications and is particularly suited for use in the esthetic zone. New studies on NobelActive confirm the efficacy of this innovative implant. The studies showed favorable clinical and radiographic outcomes. Excellent values for marginal bone remodeling have been reported and soft-tissue variables have been stable. A cumulative survival rate of 95.7% was reported.1

The first diagnostic and treatment planning software offered on both Mac OS® X and Windows®

NobelClinician is the first diagnostic and treatment-planning software available in the industry for both Mac OS X and Windows 32 and 64 bit. It serves an increasing demand in the dental community as dental professionals frequently also use Apple devices in their dental practice.

Nobel Biocare offers the latest technologies to bring dental professionals innovative and easy-to-use digital solutions that help improve patient care, support effective patient implant treatment and deliver long-lasting results. With NobelClinician, Nobel Biocare has launched a diagnostics and implant treatment planning software that provides superior safety and predictability. NobelClinician Software facilitates enhanced diagnostics that seamlessly link to the NobelGuide concept further enabling safe and minimally invasive implant surgery that results in less patient pain, reduced swelling and shortened healing times. The enhanced treatment diagnostics and planning software provide a wide range of useful planning options as well as optimized biomechanics, functionality and esthetic outcome when used in combination with guided surgery. NobelClinician combines a patient’s detailed clinical information with 3D radiographic data to create a sophisticated virtual environment in which clinicians can take control of all key parameters associated with the treatment approach, implant system and positioning. NobelClinician Software offers an enhanced focus on diagnostics and treatment planning thanks to numerous innovations:

  • Dentists benefit from several predefined workspaces, including an OPG view (panorex), cross-sectional views and 3D views, all linked together.
  • Dentists can plan virtual implant positioning in 3D and inspect implant locations with a re-slice viewer.
  • An integrated NobelConnect function is offered that enables dental professionals to involve treatment partners in diagnostics and treatment planning through Internet-based collaboration and data sharing.
  • A built-in interactive assistant guides users through the workflow.
  • New NobelReplace Conical Connection, NobelReplace Platform Shift and NobelActive 3.0 implants are now available for planning while guided surgery has been expanded to include 11.5 mm and Replace Select Tapered.
  • Beginning Q1 2012, NobelClinician will be open to third-party implants including other major implant systems.

Nobel Biocare Satellite Symposium explores the benefits of well-executed treatment planning

The latest edition of Nobel Biocare’s Satellite Symposium series taking place at EAO is titled Preferred Treatment Concepts for Today’s Patient Needs and explores the benefits of utilizing best-practice treatment planning in order to achieve the desired patient outcome. This interactive session on Friday, 14 October, 16.45–18.45, will take a closer look at the well-executed treatment planning needed to offer patients an effective and reliable result that improves their quality of life. Session topics include treatment planning that focuses on advanced residual ridge reduction in edentulous patients, anterior partial edentulism with special emphasis on peri-implant soft tissue, final restorative options and the use of diagnostics and treatment planning through digital dentistry. Seven experienced clinicians, researchers and presenters will conduct the session, namely Dr. Luc Vrielink, Dr. Giovanni Polizzi, Dr. Tommaso Cantoni, Prof. Alessandro Pozzi,
Dr. Eric Van Dooren, Dr. Mauro Fradeani and Dr. Christian Coachman, under the lead of the moderator
Dr. Bernard Touati and hosted by Dr. Aris Tripodakis.

More information about the new products and satellite symposium is accessible on the Nobel Biocare website which offers product information, first-user comments, course programs and much more.
